Another film, that I have watched in the research of my dissertation project, is Bridge of Spies (2015). This film, directed by Steven Spielberg, and written by Matt Charman and the Coen Brothers, is based on the tensions between the US and the USSR during the cold war.

The political drama focuses on James B. Donovan's (played by Tom Hanks) attempt to negotiate and oversee the exchange of a captured American Pilot, Francis Gary Powers, and a Soviet spy, Rudolf Abel (played by Mark Rylance).

The writing is solid throughout the movie. It doesn't over use dialogue, making every line that little bit more effective. There are moments where the story seems to drag, however, as a whole it is consistently moving forward in its storytelling.

Personally, this film is not only amazingly written, but is also stunningly shot, and from what I could tell, it follows the original story very closely and represents its main characters perfectly.
