This week I will be discussing the 2017 Biopic, Breathe, featuring Andrew Garfield. This movie tells the story of Robin Cavendish, a man who was paralysed by Polio in the late 1950's. Cavendish became a huge advocate for the aid of disabled people, teaching they were no different to someone without a disablility and that they deserved to be treated as such.
The film was commisioned by Cavendish's son, Jonathon, (played in the movie by Dean-Charles Chapman) who runs Imaginarium Productions with Andy Serkis, who went on to direct the movie.
This movie has some absolutely beautiful comedic moments, stemming from Cavendish's light-hearted personality, and it balances them perfectly with the far more emotional parts.
Some of the shots are absolutely stunning, and the entire film is truly very easy to enjoy, even if it does leave the audience a little teary eyed.
Personally, I really enjoyed this film. The acting was incredible, and the story inspirational and heartwarming, so I am honestly surprised that it only made $4.9 million at the box office. I would recommend this film to almost anyone, and that is quite the rarity for me.
